DUmmies Debate Circumcision

Do you have a recently born infant son and want to spare him the pain of circumcision? Well, then circumcise him NOW! Huh? How can you spare a someone the pain of circumcision by circumcising him? Simple. Most of the people whose parents were so clueless as to not circumcise them at birth are going to volunteer to be circumcised as adults and that is when they will feel the pain. A lot of PAIN! I've met such people and they have all told me they wished their parents had circumcised them as infants. Ask anyone who was circumcised as an infant and they will all tell you they have NO memories of pain.

Anyway, circumcision is now the topic of debate among the DUmmies. What sparked it was a Wall Street Journal REPORT about how circumcision decreases the risk of contracting STDs. No surprise there. As the years go by, I keep reading report after report about the health benefits of circumcision. However, the debate rages on as you can see in this DUmmie THREAD, "Circumcision Decreases Risk of Contracting STDs, Study Says." So let us now watch the DUmmies debate circumcision in bloody Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, who heartily endorses the health benefits of body sculpting the talleywhacker, in in the [brackets]:

Circumcision significantly reduces the risk of contracting herpes and human papillomavirus, says a new study that adds to the growing scientific evidence that the procedure helps stem the spread of some sexually transmitted diseases.

[As the Cable Guy said: "Healthy as a horse. Not a drip."]

Circumcised heterosexual men are 35% less likely to contract human papillomavirus (HPV) and 25% less likely to catch herpes than their uncircumcised counterparts, according to the study, published in this week's New England Journal of Medicine.

[And the circumcised men are a-head! (Pun intended).]

The study, led by scientists from Johns Hopkins University and Makerere University in Uganda, relied on data from the same randomized control trials in Africa that already showed that circumcision cuts in half the risk of contracting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which can cause AIDS.

[So which would you rather have? A circumcision or AIDS? Gee, that's a toughie.]

The researchers hope the latest findings on HPV and herpes will help turn circumcision into a more widespread medical procedure. "The scientific evidence for the public-health benefits of male circumcision is overwhelming now," says Aaron Tobian, a pathologist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and one of the study's authors.

[I pity you guys who now have to get circumcisions as adults. My circumcision isn't even a memory because I can't even remember it. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!]

In the study, researchers randomly assigned 1,684 men in Africa to undergo circumcision and tracked their health against a control group of 1,709 uncircumcised men over the course of two years ending in 2007.

[And here is how the assignment request sounded in pidgin English: "We cut wee-wee." And now on to the DUmmie "body sculpting debates...]

Nonsense. Nothing is more important the keeping the teeny tiny turtleneck. This report must be false or unimportant.

[Keep your "teeny tiny turtleneck" along with all those icky diseases tucked in the collar.]

Removing an area of loose skin where bacteria can collect reduces the chances of infection? Go figure... Seriously, is there anybody who feels strongly either way?

[Yes, the DUmmie Teeny Tiny Turtleneck Preservation Society.]

Yes, circumcision is cruel and it's a load of bullshit. If we did something similar to baby girls DUers would be screaming bloody murder.

[Um... Is it Un-PC to tell this DUmmie that boys and girls are built differently?]

comparing male and female circumcision is, well, incomparable. As my aunt put it, female circumcision takes away a woman's "happy button." I'm guessing men don't suffer the same fate.

[And this DUmmie WINS a circumcised Kewpie Doll for having a brief moment of mental clarity!]

Male circumcision seems to be an attack on male sexuality -- and the ability to perform.

[It apparently hasn't hurt Ron "The Hedgehog" Jeremy.]

I once new a guy who had multiple organisms. Snakes, lizards, turtles, cats, dogs--you name it.

[Thow in Cornish Hens and you've described Ben Burch.]

Yes . . . and it should be stopped .... cruel behavior to newborn males . . .

[But grinding up babies inside the womb is perfectly okay with you?]

Why does this have to be so hard? Such a pain in the ass?

[Because that's the way Ben Burch likes it.]

I also haven't seen any study saying this effects first world guys, who can wash their wangs daily.

[The Chinese name for John Holmes is Wang Hung Lo.]

Look at the statue of the David . . . he has but a small nick . . .You could with a penis as nature intends it to be ---why mutilate it?

[Ben Burch's favorite statue. He loves "nicking" it whenever he visits Italy.]

"Circumcision" is loaded language. It's loaded to render trivial a permanent damage done to babies. And I'll be as emotional about the foreskin amputation practiced on me as an infant as I bloody please.

[Don't blame your performance problems on circumcision.]

True that most circumcised men don't even think about it. I didn't even understand that it was an issue until I was about 20 and a gay friend informed me about the topic.

[Were you both sitting in the steam room at the time?]

I want my nerve endings back, and more importantly the nerve endings of infants to no longer be amputated (since the former can't happen).

[Would someone out there FedEx DUmmie JackRiddler his nerve endings so he can quit whining and blaming his performance problems on circumcision?]

I never gave it a thought until I found out as an adult that half my penile nerve endings had been removed because of myths about health and God. And I talked with adults who'd lost it (as one might lose an appendix, which is not removed preemptively just because it might get an infection one day) and thus knew the big difference it made in their lives. But that would be true of any other bad practice: you only know if you know, right?

[Hey DUmmie JackRiddler! Are you also going to bitch and moan about the lost nerve endings when you cut your fingernails?]

I just asked Little Devil about this and he said that if he were uncomfortable about it at all he'd just tell me to put a sweater over his helmet.

[LOL!]

Because is normal for men AND women to create smegma. Infant circumcision is wrong! I wonder, do people believe that circumcision is better than condoms?! Don't forget, though, according to doctors, circumcision prevents or cures the following: masturbation, nocturnal emissions(wet dreams), syphilis, epilepsy, bedwetting, rape, curvature of the spine, bladder infections, clubfoot, neuralgia, crossed eyes, blindness, deafness, dumbness, urinary and rectal incontinence, tuberculosis, penile cancer, prostate cancer, venereal disease, tongue cancer, nervousness, and the new ones STD's and HIV! haha give me a break. Look it up: History of Circumcision.

This is a UK News article responding to the US articles regarding circ preventing STD's:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7960798.stm

Paraphrasing a few lines:

""Dr Colm O'Mahony, a sexual health expert from the Countess of Chester Foundation Trust Hospital in Chester, said the US had an "obsession" with circumcision being the answer to controlling sexually transmitted infections.""

and

""And it allows men who don't want to change their irresponsible behaviour to continue to sleep around and not even use a condom.""

Newborns do not have sex! If the man wants to sleep around and have unprotected/irresponsible sex, then he should be able to make the decision himself to be mutilated - and trust me, he will still need a condom to prevent STD's (so why bother?). No compassionate mother will aloud an unethical doctor to cut her son! Circumcision should be an elective surgery for a consenting adult!

oops sorry, I got carried away :)

you know what? infant circumcision is cruel, is barbaric, when this is done, is done w/o anesthesia because it's risky for the newborn, even if topical anesthetic is applied, sometimes the baby defecates and go into a shock, believing their are "sleeping through the procedure". IT NEEDS TO STOP! :(

Rubbish.

The cleanliness, reduction of potential disease and other benefits far outweigh the downside.

Hysterics have all the gravitas of the loons who oppose fluoridation of water, even though it is responsible for massive improvement in dental health. Quoting sweeps-week "weenie news" pieces is sucker bait (no pun intended).

The only reason a man might want to remain uncircumcised is if he needs a place to keep his chaw of tobacco while he's eating lunch.

"infant circumcision is cruel"

It is? I was circumcised as an infant and I don't even remember it. Circumcision can't be any more "cruel" than the birth process itself. You want pain? Try being squeezed through an opening so small that it compresses your skull in the process. Have you ever seen a newborn child? The infant's skull has been compressed during the birth process. Do you really think that's not painful? That process is so painful that the child becomes unconscious, they pass out!

8:57 AM
Blogger enithhernandez said...

just because you dont remember it doesn't mean is not cruel. would you kick a dog as a puppy because it wont remember? seriously?

So I guess for all of you... AMPUTATION IS THE ANSWER OF HYGIENE? Haven't you all noticed that girls keep all their parts intact in the US (mind you, we have more folds and caves than an intact male) but we keep cutting the boys? That seem like sexist to me, I feel bad for all the men that have to live with so much crap in the US giving so much 'benefit' to the women rather than to 'favor' the men. Yeah, we mutilate them.

FYI birth is a natural process and the pain is vital for a succesful birth. MUTILATION is NOT a natural process and it does harms sometimes the baby DIES from unnecessary surgery. It's sad men (the cut ones) defend circumcision here in the US same as women defend being circumcised in places like Africa, Uganda or Egypt.

Your analogy doesn't work mr. Ray.

don't you know the foreskin has 20,000 nerve endings than a women in the clitoris? (8,000) don't you know that the foreskin is vital for natural sexual function? LOOK IT UP. Oh wait, of course you won't know that! You only know how to cut it off. ***PUKES***

enithhernandez, do you have a penis? Simple question... I would like to know because you claim to be an expect on them and circumcision, so I want to know if you do have one and if it was circumcised?

You see, I have a penis, being a man, and I have been "cut", and I will tell you that it works fine. There is nothing wrong with it, I have no problem feeling great pleasure when I am with a girl, and I don't think your lack of knowledge or experience with a "cut" penis will change that.

This is a practice that has been going on since Ancient Egypt, and even the UNAIDS organization supports efforts to provide this procedure to prevent the spread of diseases in the under-developed world. I can quote numerous studies written by experts in the field of STDs, point you towards HIV websites like TheBody.org, as well as other sources of information to prove this point, so let it go. I will have my son(s) circumcised to protect him(them), and there is nothing your ignorant rambling can do about it.

If this was female circumcision, I would understand, but seeing as how you don't have a penis, nor know what a "cut" one feels like during intercourse (on the giving end), I will say that you are plain nuts...

P.S. Your "evidence" is taken completely out of context, not to mention your arguments against circumcision are "straw men". It is easy to sound smart when you misrepresent your opponents argument and quote useless dribble.

one last note because I REALLY take this issue VERY personal, I have a baby and I want to protect all those babies that can't speak up.

Elective circumcision is fine with me, FORCED circumcision is what I am against. NO one should decide what to cut or modify a little baby's body. BABIES'S DON'T HAVE SEX. If he decides to become an irresponsible adult who sleeps around w no protection then he should be the one to make the decision (but why even bother - he will still need to wear a condom - lame). You are very lucky you are fine, but how about those botched circumcision? guess what? Latest News: $1,800,000 for D.P., Jr. and $500,000 for medical expenses for his mom - $2,300,000 total. Both doctors were found liable. The boy lost his glans and the doctor, although called, didn't come back in to check the baby. Wait for it in the News, this was finalized today. And they are MANY like this, again... look it up: botched circumcisions. SO UNNECESSARY.

what does that has to do with circumcision?

after carrying that baby for 9months peacefully in the womb... the baby is born, if he is lucky he gets to nurse, gets to be held by his mother and father, then later a stranger take him away, strap him in a cold plastic board spread equal, taking a knife, ripping and cutting his genitals with little or no anesthetic, while the baby screams, sometimes defecates and goes into shock (parents think they sleep 'through' it, sure), will that be okay?

12:04 AM

The fact that young babies don't remember pain is exactly why we will circumcise our daughter next week. Circumcision is our cultural norm, as we feel girl parts are dirty and get littered with menstral debris upon puberty - better to cut those areas away for cleanliness. So our daughter who is only two months will be circumcised next Wednesday instead of when she is pre-pubescent, as so many of our village girls are. This way, our daughter won't remember the pain. It makes it so much better that way.

enithhernandez what you said in reply makes no sense. What are you, some kind of mad woman? You have dominated this forum to what, force you stupidity on the rest of us? You argument still lacks any direction, and your evidence to back it up is irrelevant. How does NOT having a foreskin make me any less of an expert on circumcision and sexual experience after such an operation? It doesn't, matter of fact, since I am myself a "test subject", I am a far more knowledgeable expert than you.

So I don't have a foreskin anymore, and my penis still works as nature intended. Did you check out TheBody.org as I recommend? Look into what those experts said on the matter? I have increased resistance to STDs (I never said I was immune to HIV) thanks to circumcision, a procedure which is recommended by most experts in the field of HIV at least. Cutting the foreskin allows the penis' head to harden over time, developing a thicker skin which protects against micro-tears from sexual friction. This is one of the reasons those who are cut are less likely to get an STD... But of course you didn't know that...

Circumcision is also a simple solution to many of the problems faced by people with a foreskin. Constantly have to wash the foreskin, especially after urinating. Since urine becomes trapped in the foreskin (even in the most minute amounts), it is recommended that it be washed after use. This constant care does become a hassle, especially later on in life when pubic hair grows in (it isn't just urine being trapped, but sweat and even hair, causing discomfort). If not properly maintained, rashes can develop, which makes uncut men more susceptible to diseases like herpes, HPV and even HIV.

Even the ancient Egyptians figured this one out, which shows you aren't as intelligent as you claim. No reputable source I have read on the subject says anything about circumcision (in males), being a cure for masturbation or any other sexual behaviour. Also, this isn't about babies having sex, this is about a man's sex life (which you have no experience in at all). If your son wants to run off when he is older and sleep around without protection, he is far less likely to get anything being circumcised (as I stated above). Sure he should always wear a condom, but even those aren't 100% effective. Also, men who have their skin cut even at a later age can obtain many of those benefits after the procedure (not to mention in one study, many of these test subjects found it easier to get aroused after the foreskin was removed).

P.S. Botched circumcisions are shown to rare at best. You are almost as likely to be struck by lightning (one in 300,000 to 400,000 vs 500,000). That's why hospitals have experts for such procedures, and that's also why even the Canadian Health Board recommends untrained doctors not perform circumcisions.

And, as you said, GET EDUCATED!

*****

To the anonymous who said they were going to circumcise their daughter... In that situation, "moonbat"hernandez is right. Such a procedure has no medical value and was developed to deny women their sexuality. You only see this being practiced in countries where women are treated like slaves (Northern Africa/Middle East) because this is one way a "master" maintains control.

Where male circumcision has shown to have practical medical purposes, no Western doctor would recommend or even perform such a procedure. It is banned in many places around the world because it is deemed a brutal and barbaric practice.

1. Just b/c an infant can not remember the pain does not mean it is okay. Infant circumcision is much more painful than adult circumcision b/c they are not put under a general. Only 5% of baby boys get a nerve block and the nerve block does not always work. Also the complication rate is far higher in infant circumcision b/c the foreskin, which is fused to the glands, must be torn off before it can be removed. There is not way to tell exactly how much skin to remove b/c the infant is not fully grown. Adult men have access to quality pain control, medicines that can not be given to the neonate. They also have a preserved sensitivity if they are circumcised as and adult b/c the gland have not been exposed for over 18 years. If an man wants to be circed he can do so with far fewer risks and with the appropriate anesthetics. Important to not that less than 1 in 500 men would choose circumcision. Why? Well they know what they would be missing. The functions of the foreskin are far more than just the additional blood supply and nerve endings. Yes this tissue is the most sensitive area of the penis, and is composed of cells similar to the finger tips but it there is even more function. The selective tissue in the foreskin is also used during intercourse and masturbation as a gliding mechanism. This gliding mechanism preserves natural lubrication and prevents the need for artificial lubricant. For women and intact man is much better for the vagina b/c it protects them from the scraping of the ridge of the penis. In infants the foreskin is fused to the glands. This protects feces and other pathogens from entering, eliminating a complication called meatal stenosis. Circumcised boys are the only boys that suffer from meatal stenosis. This condition occurs in about 8 of 100 infant circumcisions and requires a second surgery to correct.

2. Females are far dirtier than men. There is smegma and more cracks where things hide. If our labia and clitoral hood were removed we would have less of a chance of getting infections, yeast, and STDs yet we don't go doing that. Intact men are much cleaner than women. Infections in an intact man are very rare and usually occur when a mother is trying to retract a boy. This should never be done b/c it causes tearing, introduces infection, and causes scarring. The only person to manipulate a child's foreskin should be the child himself. Throughout childhood and adolescents a boy will become retractable. After that he can pull the foreskin back and rinse with water only. Soaps aren't good for genitals, female or male.

3. The fact that anyone can believe that circ protects them from HIV or STDs is ridiculous. America has the single highest rate of STD transmission. The circ rate among sexually active men in the US is at 85%. You think your circ will protect you from HIV, why don't you talk to the over 500,000 circumcised men that have died of AIDs in the US? 1 in 3 Americans have an STD. Men are generally asymptomatic so they don't get tested and they pass it to their partners without knowing. These studies you hear about that have been done in Africa are extremely flawed. There is evidence that there is a genetic factor that increases the risk of African Americans getting HIV. There have been equal studies showing that circ does not have any effect on the rate of STD transfer. Intact men are symptomatic more often than circed men but they are both at equal risk. It is actually better to be symptomatic b/c you can get treated. So many men think they are clean just b/c they don't show symptoms.

Bottom line. It is every man and woman's right to choose over their own genitals. Infant/childhood circumcision is a violation of a person's basic human right. His body his choice.

10:20 PM
Blogger Inquiring Mind said...

I wanted to add that the mythical "foreskin problems" we hear about here in the US are due to the fact that doctors don't understand the development and treatment of an intact boy. 85% of the world is intact and they are not running around in agony over infections and other "problems". The only medical reason to circumcise is for malignancy, frostbite, gangrene, or serious trauma.

www.nocirc.org/publish/pamphlet7.html
US doctors are not taught about the normal development of the intact boy. For example, retraction. This happens at a different age for every boy. Only 50% of boys are retractable by age 10. Many doctors don't understand this and ignorantly try to force a child's foreskin back. This is very harmful. Here is a little bit about retraction.

http://www.doctorsopposingcircumcision.org/pdf/2008-03retractileforeskinleaflet.pdf

Many doctors mistakenly diagnose phimosis on a child. A child can not have phimosis. Phimosis occurs when an adult man is non-retractable. Assuming that the boy was properly cared for and no one tried to force his foreskin back, less than 3% of intact men are diagnosed with phimosis. Phimosis is easily treated with a steroidal cream that allows the opening to stretch, simple as that.

Complications just don't happen if a boy is left alone to develop normally. Sadly many ignorant doctors in the US forcibly retract boys during exams. This article was written by a foreskin-wise pediatrician and discusses many of these so called "foreskin problems" which are really not problems at all.

http://www.mothering.com/articles/new_baby/circumcision/protect-uncircson.html

As for the history of circ. The circ we perform today does not even remotely resemble the circ that was performed by the Egyptians and Abraham. Only the portion hanging off was removed originally leaving the majority of the foreskin and the frenulum intact. Here is some reading about that:
http://www.cirp.org/library/history/peron2/

By the way "botched circumcisions" are far more common than you stated. As I said before 8 in 100 boys suffer meatal stenosis and even more suffer from skin bridges, scarring, painful erection. Three studies have concluded that in the US 240 boys die each year from complications of circumcision. If your only definition of a botched circ is that there was an amputation of the glands then you are missing a great deal. There is a 30% risk of complications. Many circ complication happen years after when a man becomes sexually active if you linked these to the circ then that 30% I quoted would probably be much higher. Circumcised men actually reach impotency 7 years sooner than intact men. However, there is 100% loss of normal, functional tissue from EVERY circ. Here is a lost list for you:
http://www.circumstitions.com/Lost.html

I find it very ironic that as a man who has never utilized a foreskin you are so insistent that baby boys be circumcised at birth. Even if it does reduce the risk of getting an STD, I don't know too many infants that are running around having sex. A boy can make the decision when he reaches consenting age. Then he can receive the PROPER pain relief and a lower chance of complications. Why the desire to take away a choice that permanently alters his most private area on his body? You sound very much like the African cultures that try to defend female circ. They make the same claims and convictions yet we don't allow it. Actually, if you so much as prick the clitoral hood (part that becomes the foreskin on a boy) on a baby girl you would be put in jail in our country. Equal rights for all children!

Isn't this sorta like people entering into an ARM and then pretending they didn't know what the *bleeeeeeep* they were doing?

What I find most interesting enith, is that you describe yourself as a true believing Christian. And yet what you're fighting is a Judeo-Christian custom. A religious custom.

Something about this thread stinks.

Thanks. But then your little brain decided to send the little signals to your little fingers to punch down little tiny keys that ended up saying "He who smelt it, dealt it."

"This thread stinks" has to do with this bunch of circle jerks: Miguel. Clancop. enithhernandez.

They're all full of shit. Unless, of course, they were part of the cast of American Graffiti.

t-man,

My brain may be small but it gets the job done...unlike some other, bigger, brains I know. Know what I mean?

I always enjoy circumcision threads, they make me realize that some forms of lunacy transcend politics.

As a woman, I gotta say, I prefer the well manicured variety.

Cute, clean, efficient. Nice streamlined design.

Just sayin'

"Yeah. It is. God wants it that way. Discussion's over or prepare to get down with Satan."
Um, no.
I seem to recall one of Paul's epistles making it quite clear that circumcision is not a requirement for salvation.

Stepped in it now, Adam.

How do you know?

Can't wait. Hurry.

I never said that. I was quoting you saying it.
I then pointed out that one of the epistles pretty much negates the concept that circumcision is required for salvation.

All the rationalizations for this practice could be applied with only minor changes to learning to wipe your own ass. It's still just a religion-based mutilation.
